Jon Netts - District 2

Upon his retirement in 1992, Jon and his wife, Priscilla moved to Palm Coast from New Jersey. When Palm Coast first incorporated, Mr. Netts was appointed to the Code Enforcement Board, serving first as a member and then as its Chairman. In 2001 Jon was elected to the Palm Coast City Council and in 2003 he was chosen as Vice Mayor. In that same year he was named by Palm Coast Elks Lodge, #2709 as "Citizen of the Year." In 2005 Jon was elected to his second term on the City Council.
Jon holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in science and has completed his doctoral coursework in Administration, Policy, and Urban Education at Fordham University. As an educator, he rose from classroom teacher, to district-wide administrator, and finally to the Director of the Northern New Jersey Provisional Teacher Training Consortium for the New Jersey State Department of Education. He also was a licensed Real Estate Broker and taught courses in Real Estate Law and Investment.
While in New Jersey Jon served as a Red Cross Chapter Chairman, Vice President of the New Jersey Council of Red Cross Chapters, and as statewide Administrator/Director for Health and Safety Services. Jon served eight years on his local Planning Board and four consecutive terms as a City Councilman where he was selected as Council President and Deputy Mayor.
Among other local activities, Jon serves as a Director of the Palm Coast Historical Society; as a Director of Enterprise Flagler, and on the Executive Board of Flagler Habitat for Humanity. He has served as Chairman of the Flagler County's "Citizen Advisory Committee on School Impact Fees" and on the "Flagler County Blue Ribbon Landfill Advisory Committee." He is a graduate of "Leadership Flagler."
In November, 2006 Mr. Netts was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council which serves seven northeastern Florida counties.
