Our Utility Department, Water Treatment Plant #2 is seeking a new staff member to join their team! Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as a Mechanical Technician 1 or 2. This position requires the employee to function at journeymen's level, and will be required to perform duties associated with installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing a wide variety of machinery and mechanical equipment, e.g., pumps, motors, pneumatic equipment, chemical feed equipment, gearboxes and various rotating equipment. Commercial / industrial electrical knowledge and experience is preferred. The employee will be required to function at a level of independence based on knowledge through training and experience. A variety of physical activities are required including, but not limited to, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling heavy objects, etc. Must have knowledge working with power tools. Job requires exposure to outside environmental conditions such as extreme heat and sometimes-cold temperatures along with working in the evening, weekends, holidays, if needed. High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by two (2) years' experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial pumping systems or an equivalent amount of training and experience. A FLDEP Distribution Level 3 Certificate or a FLDEP Class C Water Treatment Operator Certification within (1) year of date of hire.
Salary : $16.13 - $19.51
